2010 Celebrations
Ribbon

Celebrate with us the past, present and future of blood donation and the blood transfusion service in Scotland.

2010 will mark two important anniversaries for the history of blood transfusion in Scotland:

  • 70 years ago, in 1940, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Association - the precursor to SNBTS - was founded.
  • 80 years ago, in 1930, the first volunteer blood donor panel in Scotland was founded in Edinburgh by Jack Copland.

Many of the important figures in the history of blood donation and transfusion medicine in Scotland remain alive and active, giving us the chance to forge real links with the origins of the service.

Scotblood 2010 Conference

In 2010 the event will take place on 10th and 11th June and the format will have a celebratory character with a gala dinner at Stirling Castle or other prestigious venue.
